Sevilla

It hasn't taken long for me to figure out that the Spanish love their holidays! At the end of October we had a puente, or a long weekend (aka 5 days off for me) for a national festivo. Early last week, a few friends and I booked a last minute trip to Seville in the region of Andalucia, Spain.

Well, it´s safe to say Sevilla is my new favorite city in Spain.

Stunning.

Since I don´t feel like going over every detail of my trip and you probably don´t feel like reading it, here are a few highlights from the weekend:

Saturday
Packed at 7 am. Sprinted through Metro and barely made our 8 am bus. Jess surprised me with an inflatable neck pillow as a belated bday gift. Win! Realized I forgot my cell phone AND passport at home. Fail. Arrived in Sevilla and facebooked my roomate who was able to send me a picture of my passport to check into the hostel. Technology ftw... and thanks roomie! We lucked out with an AMAZING hostel, the Oasis Sevilla. Our hostel roomates ended up being other auxiliares/students living in Madrid and we became fast friends!

The Metrosol Parasol in Plaza de la Encarnacion.
The structure was built to increase tourism and spending in the nearby shops. Also known as Las Setas (the mushrooms) to locals, due to the fact that it took far more money and time to build than was originally estimated.

Sunday
Took the hostel´s walking tour through Sevilla and learned a ton about Sevilla´s history. Went for tapas and beer which were great, despite the bad service... and I mean bad even by Spain standards haha. Walked around Seville some more. Had an amazing dinner at Taberna Coloniales, thanks for the suggestion Lauren. Went out by the water with our hostel roomies. Took shots that were on FIRE. Awesome.

Obsessed.

Monday
Oh heyyyy, it's Halloween. Toured Sevilla's Cathedral, which is the largest in the world. Saw the most incredible views of the city from the top of the tower. Made lunch with the roomies. Roamed the streets of Sevilla with the King of Spain, otherwise known as our friend Jorge. Laughed way too hard and looked like your typical American tourists on Halloween. Went to the beautiful Plaza de España at sunset. Went shopping, because we're obsessed. Got ready for Halloween night with the girls.... I was a little leopard kitty. Original, I know... dontjudgeme. Partied until 5 in the morning on the hostel bar crawl.

Plaza de España.
This picture doesn't even come close to capturing the beauty of this place.

Tuesday
Last day in Sevilla.... boo :( We rented bikes and took a ride though the park and by the water. Said goodbye to Sevilla and took the bus back to Madrid.

All in all, it was an incredible weekend spent with great people. If you ever get the opportunity to go to Sevilla, DO IT. Sevilla is the most picturesque city and has such a rich history and culture. I'll be back... hopefully sooner than later!

Letting go.

It’s time to let go of ….

Situations I can’t control,

Insecurities,

The could of, would of, should of’s,

Wishing things were different,

Expectations.

It’s one of the hardest things to do and it’s easier said than done, but it’s time for me to get over some things I’ve been stuck on lately. Life is just too damn good to overcomplicate it with negative thoughts. It’s time to stop worrying about things that don’t exist. Sometimes I think we like making our lives messy and complicated… but I choose happiness. What are you holding onto? Let’s let go together.
